Upper Kananaskis Lake Fall

The Upper Kananaskis Lake during the fall is spectacular, especially when you are on the lake and the water is smooth as glass (which almost never happens).

I have hiked this lake and surrounding areas 25 years and it is very rare to see the lake this smooth, it was an absolutely perfect day with no clouds, no wind and warm sun.  Amazing.

Sunsets & Sunrise

The Sun has been worshiped for millennia by various cultures and civilizations worldwide, and it is readily available.

What more could you ask for in a photographic subject?

I have always been fascinated by astronomy; perhaps the Sun being our closest star has influenced my passion for astronomy?

Sunsets and sunrises have a way of conveying the intricate relationship between the Earth, Sun, Moon and Cosmos, and of course, the play of shadows and light on the landscape.

Standing in the Sand

One spends a lot of time standing in the sand and the ocean when photographing various landscapes.

Tree Abstract

The trees in Maui can be massive… and I find generally that most people never look “up” when in a forest regardless of where they are in the world.

The detail is amazing.

Koki Beach Park

Koki Beach State Park.

Rugged beauty, very strong currents.  Its one of my favorite places to visit when on Maui, however I don’t swim here due to the extremely violent waves and currents for most of the year.

Evening Stroll

A late evening stroll along the northwest shore of Maui, looking toward Molokai and in the far distance Honolulu.

The winds were light, the stars were bright, and the smoothness of the sand was apparently from the heavier surf action earlier in the day.

Just another Sunset

Just another sunset

… said no one ever; or at least I suspect this is never said when you are in Hawai’i.  The vast variety of conditions make for some truly stunning sunsets that are never quite the same.  Stunning.
