Hawai’i

Hawai’i is simply one of my favourite places on Earth.

From a photographer’s perspective, Hawaii is an exquisite haven teeming with natural beauty and diverse landscapes that offer an abundance of visual storytelling opportunities.

Its lush tropical rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and pristine beaches present a captivating tapestry of colours and textures, providing an ideal backdrop for capturing the essence of the islands’ enchanting allure. The interplay of volcanic formations, including majestic peaks like Mauna Kea and Haleakala, adds a dynamic element to the photography, allowing for the exploration of both raw, rugged terrains and the delicate balance of life that thrives amidst the volcanic activity.

Moreover, Hawaii’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant local communities provide photographers with a wealth of human narratives to document and portray.

From the rhythmic hula dances to the bustling markets showcasing a fusion of Polynesian, Asian, and American influences, the islands pulsate with a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

This cultural mosaic, coupled with the breathtaking natural scenery, offers photographers an opportunity to capture the spirit of aloha, encapsulating the warmth, hospitality, and resilience of the Hawaiian people within their photographic frames.

I have spent countless hours photographing Maui and the big island of Hawai’i in nearly every terrain and season.

Some day I will return to cover the subject of surfing and ship my telescopes and CCD cameras to do a little astrophotography.
